Excavation Commenced in August - What will happen until mid February?
Excavation of the site to a depth of approximately 9-12 metres will enable construction of a two level, 400 space carpark to be built followed by the library. The excavation stage will be completed around mid February. During excavation there will be approximately 12 truck loads of material removed per hour. To minimise disruption to traffic, pedestrians and the surrounding areas, the majority of movements will be in and out of the adjoining site at 88 Archer Street, then along Archer Street.

Community Billboard Project
The artwork surrounding the Civic Place site is part of the Civic Place Community Billboard Project. During construction it will become a community art and information gallery. It will be a creative hub of activity that will continue to evolve throughout the construction of Civic Place. Read about the history of the site, watch the Civic Place building grow, admire artwork or get involved with an artwork. The hoardings will become the community’s canvas; in upcoming events the community will have the opportunity to paint their art on a heart, and find their place in Civic Place. In keeping with Civic Place’s philosophy of sustainability the Billboards are printed on biodegradable Bioflex vinyl.
The Anderson Street Billboard will be designed shortly once the hoardings are erected. The artwork in this area will reflect the indigenous occupation of Chatswood and the early history of the Civic Place site.
