Architect's concept of the Theatre
The theatre complements the numerous places and spaces that make up Civic Place, providing a balance of local and professional performances including drama and musicals. Businesses and community groups will be provided with a great venue giving them greater choice when planning their event.
The theatre’s atmosphere will be intimate and sophisticated. The seating, has been carefully designed to ensure every seat enjoys excellent sightlines and acoustics. The stage will have an orchestra pit at the front and is highly versatile to allow quick scene changes.
Providing for the needs of Patrons and performers with disabilities has been an intrinsic part of the design of the Theatre. Accessibility has been a priority to all areas including the auditorium, stage, dressing rooms, scenery workshop and laundry.
The bars and other amenities in the foyers mean that patrons will be able to take a break and enjoy light refreshments without having to leave the venue. The theatre’s classic elegance along with its practical design will make it a popular venue for all on the North Shore, providing a memorable experience for performers and patrons alike.
