Retail space

Artist Concept Detail 5Civic Place will provide quality dining seven days a week. Retail shops will stay open late. This will encourage more people to visit Chatswood at night, making it safer and more enjoyable after dark. Complementing this will be the hotel and evening functions at Civic Place.

The rental income from these shops and restaurants will, at minimum, replace Council’s existing income from businesses at the site. Due to increased retail space income is expected to be approximately 75% higher than at present.

The Civic Place Masterplan provides retail areas in several locations, with emphasis on maintaining retail frontages to the primary retail streets, (Victoria Avenue and Anderson Street) and the replacement, at a minimum, of Council’s existing retail income from the site. It has been important to provide the right quantum of retail space to ensure that the site is appropriately activated.

Significant retail areas are located on:

  • Anderson Street
  • Victoria Avenue
  • Archer Street

In addition, the Masterplan proposes new Cafe/Restaurant facilities in key locations surrounding and enlivening the Civic Place open space.

The following configuration of retail space is an approximation of the types of shops/space and the gross square metres for each. The total retail / cafe / restaurant area is 3289sqm.
