Rehearsal studio & spaces

There is a need in Sydney for more rehearsal venues to enable the creation of theatre, dance and musical performances as well as a serious need for commercial rehearsal space.

The new Chatswood Civic Place will provide two Studio/Rehearsal venues of 165 sqm each, situated in the building below the concert hall. These venues will not only be used for developing and rehearsing shows and new work, but will also be able to accommodate small public performances for artists that prefer an intimate environment within which to showcase their work. These venues will also be available for hire to dance and production companies, as well as television studios.

The rehearsal studios will create greater opportunities for youth to engage in arts and culture projects and programs, with as many as four performances per year in the Studio/Rehearsal room targeted for young emerging artists.

The Studio/Rehearsal rooms will also strengthen regional touring opportunities and assist in supporting regional arts programs across NSW. The provision of the rehearsal rooms that are able to accommodate small public performances, and the provision of office space for small art organisations and touring outfits will ensure that young artists that are entering the industry are supported through facilities that have relatively low overheads.
