Civic Hall is designed to be the North Shore’s pre-eminent meeting place. At approximately 530 sqm it is the largest flat-floor public venue in the region. It will be a venue of exceptional versatility for occasions such as public and community celebrations, civic functions, exhibitions, corporate events, and educational events. The essence of community life and the rich diversity of the North Shore community will be celebrated and experienced here.
Civic Hall is entered via the main level of public open space and joined to the Concert Hall and the Theatre by an important site link. The entrance foyer is a grand space in its own right, intended to integrate seamlessly with the auditorium. Civic Hall is to be fitted with the most efficient, state-of-the-art audio visual and technical equipment available. Unusually for a large scale venue it enjoys natural, northern daylight, making it highly desirable for events requiring a daytime ambience.
It is designed to seat between at least 430 banquet style and 600 theatre style patrons for receptions and exhibitions. Civic Hall is also supported by:
- a specialist-designed catering kitchen
- a chef’s office
- two small ante-rooms to ensure community and corporate use is optimised
