Car parking
Civic Place will provide more public car spaces to the Chatswood CBD. The car park will consist of two levels of basement parking with 400 car spaces. The library will have a number of time-limited free parking spots, while some spaces will be metered in line with Council’s other car parks. There will also be improved safety for those walking from their car to facilities.
Two levels of basement car parking are proposed below Civic Place. Both levels will have lift and stair access. The entrance and exit to the car park is from Ferguson Lane.
Approximately 464 car spaces on the main site were proposed in accordance with Council’s DCP 2 for Car parking. This number includes the transfer of 162 spaces from the Council-owned Archer Street / Albert Avenue, and the Devonshire Street car parks, to facilitate better parking on the northern edge of the CBD. The spaces have now been re-allocated between the main site (approximately 400 spaces) and the Archer Street precinct (approximately 60 – 100 spaces) to allow the Archer Street precinct to function entirely as an independent site.
