Access and equity
One in five people in the Willoughby Local Government Area identify as having a disability and therefore Council’s Access and Equity Policy was fundamental to the planning for future use of the Civic Place site. The Policy requires that all people living, working and visiting Willoughby have access to services and facilities provided by Council, regardless of their race, culture, religion, language, age, gender or disability. A key principle was therefore that the site should offer equity of access to all – in design, programming, pricing and attitude – to bring about a place of inclusion and welcome. The degree to which this is achieved is detailed under Goal 3 Design Excellence and Accessibility, in the Business Case for Civic Place.
